It is the start of the semester and I am feeling excited. Coming back to complete my masters was a decision I thought long and hard about. I really had to consider the level of commitment I could make to the program, how it would help me to reach my goals, and if it was the right time. I have been teaching for several years now, the last 6 years at the same school in the same grade. This year I transitioned to middle school, at a new school, teaching completely new content. I guess you could say this is a year of transitions. But I know I wasn’t the only one. I was able to learn a lot about my colleagues early on. For our first assignment we created short Flipgrid videos. I really enjoyed watching the videos and learning about what led others to join this program.

 What are ISTE standards ? That is the question we were asked to investigate and reflect on this week. If I am being completely honest, this is the first time I was hearing or learning about the ISTE standards.   ISTE= International Society for Technology in Education The ISTE standards are a set of standards for Educators , Students , Educational Leaders , Coaches , and Computational Thinkers . Going through the standards for teacher and students was a nice reminder of all the work we do/should do with our students. In the technology forward world that our students are entering, it is important for them to be aware of the impact they are making as well as the impact that technology is making on them. Adobe Express Web 2.0 and 3.0

This week we learned about the evolution of the internet. Although I have lived through many changes to the internet and its accessibility, I don't think I have ever really taken the time to reflect on all of the changes that have occurred. We were tasked in thinking about the start of the internet, the present, and the future. We used Adobe Express to create short videos explaining Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. This was 1 of 2 assignments this year using Adobe Express and I have to say it is not my favorite program to use. I do enjoy the simplicity of the program and the available themes and templates, but sometimes the simplicity of the program can feel limiting. I found myself wishing I could more easily move things or arrange my  pictures, but the templates only allowed for so much. Overall, this assignment was a nice introduction into Adobe Express and I am hoping that I will get an opportunity to become more familiar with the program in the future.

Digital Portfolio Using Google Sites

  As a culmination of my work in EDIT 4300 and EDIT 4510 I had to create a Google site to display all of my work. The platform that we used for this assignment was Google sites and I am happy to say it was very user friendly. I was able to link my assignments, change the formatting, adjust the layout, and make it my own. I really enjoyed putting this assignment together. Reflecting on our work digitally was nice and easy. As a connection to my current placement as a 7th grade teacher, our students are also tasked with creating digital portfolios using Google Sites at the end of 8th grade. I was able to show my students my portfolio as an example which was awesome. Because of how user friendly it is, I am excited to help my students spit together their assignments and share their work.
